Making Money Online - Are You a Buyer Or a Seller?
You want to make money online. Here is what doesn't work:
Staying on the buying side of the road.
Let me explain:
In the endeavor to make money online there are buyers and sellers. It's just that simple. It's a two way street and you're either on one side or the other. To succeed, you have to learn how to survive the selling side without being run off the road or getting stuck in traffic.
The buying side of the road is filled with time consuming activities. On the surface they look like good ways to be spending your time.
* Evaluating, obtaining, or studying courses
* Reading the latest blog post from your favorite guru
* Reviewing case studies of successful online business ventures
* Doing analysis to find a good niche
* Browsing the forums for helpful tips, advise, and success stories
As you read down that list, ask yourself if you're buying or selling. Remember that even if you're only consuming "free" content, you still spent time doing it.
Note most importantly that none of these are action steps from which YOU can profit. They may build your knowledge base, but unless people buy knowledge directly from your brain, which I call "consulting," you are not selling.
Now lets dig into how you were actually buying instead of selling.
* The courses are sold to you. You have to apply (not just read) the knowledge to be a seller.
* Your favorite guru uses blog posts to pitch products and boost his guru status
* Case studies are usually produced to pitch the tools that made the venture successful
* Analyzing a niche is normally done using tools other have created and sold to you
* Even free forum posts almost never end without a signature link to paid content
Now that you can see the road, what side are you on?
Information is key to success. No doubt about it. But it's a mistake to continue thinking there's a "secret" that'll open your eyes to the road to riches. You're probably already on the road. THE WRONG SIDE OF IT! From now on, view that well of information as a gas station. Get what you need and move on.
Turning things around should be easy with a little added discipline to stay focused on tasks that keep you on the right side of the road. And there's no secret to it. Pick ONE method to try. Pick ONE course to follow. Pick ONE tool to use. Focus - and above all - take action.
Move steadily forward and don't stop until you've reached your goal. Then you can write your own course -aka- open your own gas station.
